Well we finally had some racing in the state of Ohio
that for once wasn't indoors! Attica Raceway Park
opened up their 2008 racing season with The All Stars
and we were ready.

Well first off I will start off this first blog by
telling a little bit about myself and what I'm
planning on doing or saying in this thing. I'm 22
years old and have been around racing for 20 of those
years. Thanks to Scott and Vikie Barman for giving me
this bug! I'm a graduate of Fremont Ross in 2004 then I
went on to Specs Howard School of Broadcasts Arts in
the "great" state of Michigan (OH-IO)! I was the
announcer along with Brian Liskai at Fremont Speedway
since 1999 until 2007. Had a blast doing it but just
wanted to try something new. So this is where I tell
you what this blog will be about. This year I'm
"helping" Linder Racing 312 team. That's one thing
that I've always found amazing that I really don't
understand to much on the tech side of the sport. Well
this year I'm hoping it changes a little bit. So this
blog will be my year of change. Going from announcing
at the race track to who knows maybe but hopefully not
putting together a new car. OK enough of that lets get
to Saturdays race!

The ride over their is awesome! Nothing better than
just people being themselves having fun on the way
over to the race on a beautiful day. Dickie was drivin
the bus on Saturday. Steph was riding along with of
course the crew chief Steven. Oh yeah Michael was in
there too along with Brittany. We found her along the
side of the road in Fremont.

When we got to the track hats off to the Attica track
crew! They did an amazing job getting the track in
racing condition and also getting the pits nice. They
put down a lot of stone in the pits which made it
nice. If they didn't have that stone down they would
have been there all night towing the haulers out of
the mud.

We unloaded the car and let me tell you seeing the
orange and brown #312 back at the race track was
awesome! I remember when Michael was running his 305
with these colors and just thought man thats a bad a$$
car! Well it hasn't changed it still looks bad a$$ and
we haven't even hit the track yet!

For once Steph drew a good pill for the All Star race
at Attica. That made the team pretty happy along with
the driver! Fired the motor around 6ish and Steven was
on top of the trailer and yelled down to me to come up
on there. When I got up to the top and he goes... Does
that not look better on the track? I couldn't agree
with him more. Easy to read the numbers just looked
awesome on the track!

Michael went out for time trials. Since there was 48
cars in the pits the All Stars have a rule where you
only get one lap in time trials. He had a good lap
going until turn 4. He got a little to high and had to
get out of it a bit and slowed him down. Ended up
timing in at 28th fastest.

Michael was in the 4th heat starting in the 7th spot.
The track was getting rough which made it hard to
pass. He ended up 6th which sent us to the B.

Steven made some changes to the car before the B
hoping it would help Michael move from the 8th
starting spot into the top 4 and transfer him to the
A. Well the changes helped! The track was still pretty
rough and it seemed that the car worked the best when
he would drive about middle of the track going into
one and driving down to the bottom in turn 2. As the
race was coming to a close the leader Kenny Jacobs was
running out of fuel which helped Michael who was
running second at the time. Going into turn two Kenny
biked pretty good and that let Mike pass him and go on
to win the B. A lot of the other cars where running
out of fuel and it got everybody on the team nervous
weather or not we put enough in but luckily we did.

It felt like a feature win to the team. Michael drove
a smart race. He got to go down on the front stretch
and let me tell ya for myself just starting a full
season with the team it felt awesome go drive the
JackAss down there to push him back to the pits. You
know how when the crew gets down there the first thing
they do is check air pressure... well I did that! I
felt like a crew member!

When the car got back to the trailer Steve goes just
put some fuel in it and nothing else. When Michael
lined up for the feature he started in the 22nd
starting spot. Going into the first corner on the
opening lap everybody that was running the bottom
biked up and that’s when Michael said that enough of
this! No sense in getting caught up in somebody else’s
mess and he pulled in. Ended up in last but the whole
team was happy with the way the night went. Including
Jim!

The team is off next weekend until Sunday when we will
take part in the test session at Fremont Speedway,
which means I won't write another one of these until
the following weekend which will include the race at
Attica and opening night at Fremont! I agree with you
right now if you are still reading this that it was
too long so I will shorten it up for the next time.
CYA at the track!
