Andrew Barman's Blog-Week 3: Close Call
Week 3: Close Call
Week 3 of my blog is a little late I know. Sorry. I've been busy at work
trying to catch up on some podcasting for some radio shows up at work.
Anyway the 312 Linder Racing team was ready to get down and dirty at
Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway for their opener.
The week in the shop was a pretty happy one. Everybody was on cloud 9
after the win at Attica last Friday. After beating a very competitive
Daryn Pittman and Dale Blaney we were ready to get back at the track!
Friday night started off great as Steph drew number 2 at the start of the
night. Which ment that we had a good shot of starting on the front row of
a heat that night. Started on the pole of the second heat next to Andy
Shammo. Took a couple of starts before they finally got a lap in. By the
second time Michael got a good jump on Andy and took the lead and never
looked back.
We all thought that it was a start to a good night! Well little did I know
it would be a LONG night! With 3 laps to go the motor started to lay down
a little bit... according to Michael. Well when he took the checkard he
right away shut off the motor and got pushed into the pits. We took the
hood off and noticed that fuel was pouring out of the breathers. Well I
don't know what that ment but they said it wasn't a good thing. They
looked around and came to the conclusion that there was a crack in the
head. That put a end to the night for the 312 J&J.
The worse part about all of that at least I think anyway, Steph went up to
redraw for the feature and drew a 3 without knowing that we were done for
the night.
Steven found Paul Kistler in the pits and asked him if we could bring the
motor out that night to take the head off to get fixed. Thankfully Paul
said yes. So we went to the car wash, washed the car and the JackAss, went
back to the shop to take the motor out. Luckily when we got the motor out,
Paul was on his way home and met Steven, Michael, Tom, and myself out to
the shop to start on it.
Great news for the crew, Mark Keegan was able to weld on it and get if
fixed and we were ready to go back racing at Fremont Speedway on Saturday.
One good thing for the guys was that I wasn't in the shop in the way as
they were thrashing to get it in for Fremont. I had to go down to Columbus
to pick up the package so they were able to get that in no problem.
On to Saturday night for the opener at Fremont Speedway and the draw at
the start of the night wasn't like the night before and Michael went out
for time trials towards the back. He didn't time in to bad started up
front in the heat. Well he ran away with the heat. On to the feature,
Steven had me change air pressure a few times before being pushed off for
the feature where he started 10th. Track was sorta one grooved, and
luckily Michael was able to pick off a few cars at the start of the race.
At the end of the race he ended up 5th which I didn't think was too bad.
He went forward so that's always a good thing!
That was the weekend for the 312 team and myself. It was a up and down
weekend and hoping to get back to the top 5 finish this weekend.
Also thanks to everybody who bought a t-shirt on Saturday at Fremont. I'm
thinking we are going to have to re-order shirts here soon if they keep
going the way they did on Saturday. Thanks for reading. Cya at the
track!!!
